PRE- Park, Kaiserslautern, Germany, and the Technology Park Infopark Kochi, Kerala/India, Agree on Collaboration

PRE Park Kaiserslautern and the technology park Infopark Kochi, Kerala, India, intend to establish a partnership between the two technology parks.
The partnership shall support the strategy of internationalization, in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the respective technology parks through international collaboration in the context of increasing globalization.
The partnership will include the exchange of experiences, concepts, and strategies.

The focus of the collaboration will be on promoting and supporting the settlement of Indian companies in PRE Park in Kaiserslautern as well as German companies in Infopark in Kerala. A virtual office shall promote and support this exchange.

Mutual visits of companies and delegations from both sides are expected over the course of 2010 and beyond to strengthen the partnership and utilize the full potential.

In addition, the two parks plan on working together to establish a worldwide, international network of technology parks.
In a second step, the technology parks want to contribute to expanding partnerships beyond the technology parks to the areas of research, science, and business.

Infopark Kochi at Night

The technology site Infopark, located in Kochi in the southwestern part of India in the state of Kerala, was founded in 2004. Today, about 10,000 people are working in more than 80 companies in an area of approx. 100 acres. Infopark as well as the Kerala region belong to the one of the most up and coming technology sites in India; companies in the park include Tata Consulting, Wipro, and Abrition Technologies, among others. Currently, three more new technology campuses are being planned under Infopark which will network to a cluster of other six campuses within the state and a host of other smaller sites .

PRE- Park Kaiserslautern, a former conversion area of approx. 150 acres, is located next to the A6/A63 motorway interchange. PRE- Park is considered the epitome of the development of Kaiserslautern into a technology hub, and today is home to more than 100 companies employing approx. 3,000 people. In March 2010, the world leader in agricultural machinery, John Deere, will open its European Technology and Innovation Centre in PRE- Park. During the past 12 years, approx. 200 million Euros have been invested there.
PRE- UNI- Park, an area of approx. 37 acres in the immediate vicinity of the University of Kaiserslautern, has been positioned as a location for research institutes. The two Fraunhofer institutes IESE and ITWM as well as IFOS and DFKI are located there.
